Treatment and remedies of COVID-19 disease

Treatment and remedies of COVID-19 disease

  1. Convalescent Plasma
  2. Dexamethasone Effective
  3. Ibuprofen
  4. Chloroquine/ Hydroxychloroquine And Azithromycin
  5. Remdesivir Effective
  6. Vitamin D
  7. Serologic (Antibody) Testing
  8. High-Dose Vitamin C

Convalescent Plasma

Convalescent plasma - literally plasma from recovered patients - has been used for more than 100 years to treat a variety of diseases from measles to polio, chickenpox, and SARS. In the current situation, the plasma containing the antibody is given by a patient who was cured by blood transfusion to a patient with COVID-19. Donor antibodies help the patient fight the disease, possibly shortening the duration or reducing the severity of the disease.
Although convalescing plasma has been used for many years, and with varying successes, little is known about its effectiveness in treating COVID-19. There have been reports of success from China, but no randomized controlled studies (Gold Standard for Research Studies) were conducted. Experts also do not know the best time during illness to give plasma.

Dexamethasone Effective

A recent report on a clinical trial showed that dexamethasone corticosteroid reduces the risk of death in COVID-19 patients with severe disease. The report was published before the study was published in a medical journal, which means that the search results were not subject to the usual rigorous review.
Many doctors, including doctors in the United States, treat COVID-19 patients with corticosteroids since the epidemic began. It is biologically logical for patients who have developed a severe immune response (cytokine storm) to viral infection. In these cases, it is the excessive reaction of the immune system that damages the lungs and other organs, and often leads to death.
Dexamethasone and other corticosteroids (prednisone and methylprednisolone) are powerful anti-inflammatory drugs. It is readily available and inexpensive.

Ibuprofen

The World Health Organization initially recommended that acetaminophen be used in place of ibuprofen to help reduce fever, aches, and pain associated with coronavirus infection, but it now states that acetaminophen or ibuprofen can be used. Rapid changes in recommendations create uncertainty. Since some doctors are still concerned about NSAIDs, it is still wise to choose acetaminophen first, with a total dose not to exceed 3000 milligrams per day.

Chloroquine/ Hydroxychloroquine And Azithromycin

Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are used primarily to treat malaria and many inflammatory diseases, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Azithromycin is an antibiotic commonly prescribed for bacterial sore throat and bacterial pneumonia. Both drugs are inexpensive and readily available.

Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine have been shown to kill COVID-19 in a laboratory dish. The drugs seem to work through two mechanisms. First, they make it difficult for the virus to stick to the cell, preventing the virus from entering the cell and multiplying inside it. Second, if the virus can enter the cell, medications kill them before they multiply.

Azithromycin is never used for viral infection. However, this antibiotic does have some anti-inflammatory action. There has been speculation, although never proven, that azithromycin may help inhibit the excessive immune response to COVID-19 infection.

Remdesivir Effective

Remdesivir inhibitor is the ability of coronavirus that infects SARS and MERS cells in a laboratory dish. The drug was also effective in treating these coronavirus in animals: there was a decrease in the amount of the virus in the body, as well as an improvement in the lung disease caused by the virus. The drug appears to be effective in the laboratory, in protecting cells from infection with COVID (as is the case with SARS and coronaviruses), but more studies are ongoing to confirm this.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D may protect COVID-19 in two ways. First, it may help enhance our body's natural defense against viruses and bacteria. Second, it may help prevent an exaggerated inflammatory response, which has been shown to contribute to severe disease in some people with COVID-19.
Our bodies make vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. Five to 10 minutes of sun exposure on some or most days of the week for arms, legs, or back without sunscreen will enable you to produce enough vitamin. Good nutritional sources of vitamin D include fatty fish (such as tuna, mackerel, and salmon), foods fortified with vitamin D (such as dairy products, soy milk, and grains), cheese, and egg yolks.

High-Dose Vitamin C

The idea that a high dose of vitamin C IV may help in overwhelming infections is not new. A study conducted in 2017 found that high-dose vitamin C IV therapy (along with thiamine and corticosteroids) seemed to prevent deaths among people with septicemia, a form of overwhelming infection that causes low blood pressure and a serious organ failure. Another study published last year evaluated the effect of high doses of vitamin C injections between patients with severe infections and those with sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), where the lungs are filled with fluid. While the main measures of improvement for the study did not improve during the first four days of treatment with vitamin C.
There was a lower death rate of 28 days among treated patients. Although none of these studies have considered the use of vitamin C in patients with COVID-19, vitamin therapy has been specifically given to sepsis and ARDS, and these are the most common conditions that lead to intensive care unit entry, ventilator support, or Death among those with severe COVID-19 infection.

Serologic (Antibody) Testing

A serological test is a blood test that looks for the antibodies created by the immune system. There are many reasons to make antibodies, the most important of which is to help fight infection. The serological test for COVID-19 specifically looks for antibodies against COVID-19 virus.
Serological tests may also provide information about whether people become immune to coronavirus once they recover, and if so, how long does this immunity last. Over time, these tests can be used to determine who can safely return to society. Scientists can also study coronavirus antibodies to identify the parts of the coronavirus that the immune system responds to, giving them clues as to which part of the virus they target in the vaccines they develop.
Serological tests are emerging and are being developed by many private companies around the world. However, the accuracy of these tests must be verified before they are widely used in the United States.

COVID-19 ; Brief summary of corona virus

INTRODUCTION

Corona viruses are a group of related RNA viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. In humans, these viruses cause respiratory infections that can range from mild to fatal. Mild illnesses include some cases of colds (which are also caused by other viruses, often nasal viruses), while more deadly species can cause SARS, MERS, and COVID-19. Symptoms differ in other types: in chickens, they cause upper respiratory diseases, while in cows and pigs they cause diarrhea. There are as yet no vaccines or antiviral drugs to prevent or treat corona virus infection.

Coronary viruses vary greatly in risk factor. Some people can kill more than 30% of people infected, such as the SK virus that causes respiratory syndrome in the Middle East, and some are relatively harmless, such as the common cold. Corona viruses can cause a common cold with major symptoms, such as fever and sore throat from bloated nasal polyps. Corona viruses can cause pneumonia (either direct viral pneumonia or secondary bacterial pneumonia) and bronchitis (either direct viral bronchitis or secondary bacterial bronchitis).

The human corona virus discovered in 2003, SARS-CoV, which causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), has unique pathology because it causes upper and lower respiratory infections.
Six types of human corona viruses are known, with one type splitting into two different strains, which makes seven strains of human corona virus completely.
Four human corona viruses produce symptoms that are generally mild:
  1. Human corona virus OC43 (HCoV-OC43), β-CoV
  2. Human corona virus HKU1 (HCoV-HKU1), β-CoV
  3. Human corona virus 229E (HCoV-229E), α-CoV
  4. Human corona virus NL63 (HCoV-NL63), α-CoV

Three human corona viruses produce symptoms that are potentially severe:
  1. Middle East respiratory syndrome-related corona virus (MERS-CoV), β-CoV
  2. Severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus (SARS-CoV), β-CoV
  3. Severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), β-Co
COVID-19 CURRENT SCENARIO

SPREAD OF CORONA VIRUS

People can catch COVID-19 from others infected with the virus. The disease is spread primarily from person to person through small drops from the nose or mouth, which are expelled when coughing, sneezing or speaking. These drops are relatively heavy, do not travel far and quickly sink to the ground. People can catch COVID-19 if they inhale these drops from someone who has the virus. This is why it is important to stay away from at least 1 meter (away from others). These drops can land on objects and surfaces around a person such as tables, door handles and handrails. People can become infected by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. That is why it is important to regularly wash your hands with soap and water or rub it with alcohol.

Symptoms

The most common symptoms are:
  • Fever
  • dry cough
  • Tired

Less common symptoms:
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhea
  • conjunctivitis
  • Headache
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Skin rash, or the color of the fingers or toes changed

Serious symptoms:
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Speech or movement loss
Precautionary steps

  • wash your hands
  • use hand sanitizers
  • use face mask
  • social distancing and social isolation
  • don't touch your face area
  • stay at home

More research into the phyto-chemicals present in licorice root may result in treatment for the new strains of Corona virus in China liqurice root and corona virus

Licorice root has been used for ages in ancient Egyptian medicine as well as in Indian Ayurvedic medicine as well as in traditional Chinese medicine. Licorice root was already known for its antiviral properties, but researchers note that during the SARS outbreak, certain groups of people drinking the mixing of traditional Chinese medicine that they contained during the SARS outbreak had not contracted the virus despite being exposed to it by having infected relatives in the same family. This was what drove the initial research. "

The Mayor of Minneapolis is at odds with the city council pushing to abolish the police force over Floyd's death and Ben Carson calls for dialogue on insults

The Mayor of Minneapolis is at odds with the city council pushing to abolish the police force over Floyd's death and Ben Carson calls for dialogue on insults

Shame! Shame! Mayor Jacob Frye

The Minneapolis protesters removed Mayor Jacob Frye from the rally on Saturday, chanting "Shame! Shame!"  After he rejected calls to defend the police.

It was an amazing moment that demonstrated how much the national conversation has changed in nearly two weeks of protests over the death of George Floyd, who was killed on May 25 by a Minneapolis officer who knelt on his neck. What was once a specialized radical argument - the police freeze - has become a massive call for demonstrators who want radical changes that would dismantle a system they deemed racist and ineffective.
While most Americans do not support lowering police budgets (according to the Yahoo / YouGov poll conducted during the early days of the protests), officials are now forced to confront these arguments at least. This includes Fry, who campaigned on the police reform platform before his election in 2017. He faced the question during a rally he visited on Saturday: When a woman on stage gave him a microphone to answer whether "D: He has been running the Minneapolis Police Department," he replied: "I do not support the complete abolition of the police."
Later, in an interview with The New York Times, Fry said he still supports "a deep structural reform of a racist system" such as preventing the police union from collective bargaining. It is a step that, according to one study, can reduce violent police misconduct, but it is far from what activists are seeking.

Some of the activists ’demands have been met: after Floyd’s death, the University of Minnesota, the Minneapolis Public Schools, the Minneapolis Park and the Recreation Council ended their relationship with the police department. For Minneapolis activists who support abolishing the police, this is not enough.

Go home, Jacob, go home!" And "Shame! Shame!"

After his response, the protesters booed the mayor and chanted, "Go home, Jacob, go home!" And "Shame! Shame!"
Minneapolis mayor refuses to push the city council to dismantle the police, despite the veto majority Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frye reiterated on Sunday that he does not support the abolition of the city police force, hours after a majority of Minneapolis City Council members vetoed that they wanted to take this drastic step in the wake of George Floyd's arrest.

"I will work tirelessly with the president Chief [Medaria] Arradondoand alongside society for deep structural reform and addressing systemic racism in the police culture," Fry said in a statement to CARE. "We are ready to search for and implement more community-led public safety strategies on behalf of our city. But I do not support the abolition of the Minneapolis Police Department."

Ben Carson "engage in a dialogue"

On Sunday morning, Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson urged Americans to "engage in a dialogue" about racism, instead of hurting insults and tarnishing each other's image.

"What will help the national recovery is if we engage in dialogue together," Carson said in "State of the Union" on CNN. "Let's not make the solution democratic or republican. Let us make it an American solution and recognize that our country is exceptional."
Carson added that while other countries such as China and Russia cannot bring down America, "We can destroy ourselves internally" and it is important for the American people to realize that they are "not each other's enemies."
Jake Tapper of CNN noticed Carson's calls for healing and understanding, but he questioned whether his boss might be part of the problem. Tapper cited the retirement of President Donald Trump for a position attacking the character of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died when a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck less than two weeks ago.
Carson replied: "I think you will hear from the President this week on this subject in some detail, and I would like to ask you to judge even after that time." Carson, who was a Republican presidential candidate in 2016, noted that he "grew up at a time when there was real systematic racism", reflecting his own experiences as a black high school student in Detroit.
"This kind of thing was not uncommon when I was young. This kind of thing is not common now," he said. "Are there still racists around them? Certainly. It was there yesterday, today, and it will be tomorrow. But that does not mean that it should not be fought, and this is the right time now. People are focusing on this. We cannot let this moment slip through."
"We need to deal with some cases in police stations, but this is an easy time to do that," Carson added. "We have rogue policemen. The vast majority of policemen are great, but you have some rogue and can move from one jurisdiction to another, and nobody does anything about it."

Likewise, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice - who served as National Security Adviser and Secretary of State under President George W. Bush - urged Trump to change his tone when discussing these issues and rely more on sympathy for continued dialogue.
"I will ask the president to speak first and foremost in the language of unity, the language of sympathy," Rice said in an interview with CBS host Margaret Brennan on "Face the Nation". President, with this president, but you have to talk to every American, not just with those who might agree with you. "
"I would not advise the president, but if I were, I would say let's put a tweet aside for a while and talk to us and have a conversation with us," Rice added. "I think we need that, and I think he can do it."
